Supported data

Will it take
my data?

Usually yes — and where the answer is no, it is here rather than in a support reply after you have already uploaded.

The list

What you can upload

✓ YesRaw flight photos (JPG/PNG)
From any drone. We reconstruct them into the full deliverable set.
✓ YesPhotos from a DSLR or a phone
Same pipeline. They need location data in the file — see below.
✓ YesA finished export from DJI Terra, Pix4D, Metashape, WebODM
Zip the export folder and upload it (included with Pilot and Fleet, and during the free trial). DJI Terra is the most-tested path; the classifier reads by file type and name, not by vendor.
✓ YesRTK-corrected images
Positions already corrected in the image are read and preserved.
✗ NoCamera raw .dng, .cr2, .cr3, .nef, .arw, .orf, .heic
Refused at the door on purpose. The reconstruction engine cannot read them, so accepting the upload would spend your time and your credits and then fail. Export to JPG or PNG first.
✗ NoRaw LiDAR (L1 / L2 point clouds)
We are photogrammetry. A LiDAR flight needs a platform that processes it.
✗ NoThermal and multispectral
No radiometric thermal maps and no NDVI.
✗ No360° panoramic captures
Spherical imagery needs a different reconstruction path and a different viewer.
✗ NoVideo
Frames pulled from video have no reliable per-frame position. Fly stills.
NOTE Surveyed ground control is not one of the above. We take your gcp_list.txt — from WebODM’s GCP editor, Metashape or POSM — but it goes on the Control step of a raw-photo project, on its own. Mix it in with the photos and it is left out with no error: the browser bundles the imagery and nothing else, the job succeeds, and the map is positioned by the drone’s GPS alone — which you would find out from the accuracy, days later.

The one real requirement

Your photos need to know where they were taken

Nearly every drone writes GPS position into each image and there is nothing for you to do. It matters for phone and DSLR captures, where location is often switched off: without it there is nothing to place the map on the earth with, and the reconstruction cannot be georeferenced. Turn location services on before the shoot, or bring ground control.

We do not keep a list of supported drones or cameras, because we do not have one in the software: what matters is the file, not the badge on the aircraft. If it writes JPG/PNG with position in the EXIF, it works.

How much

Photos per map

The cap is per map, not per month, and it is the only hard size limit.

Scout 1,000 photos per map
Pilot 3,000 photos per map
Fleet 10,000 photos per map

What you pick is checked in the browser before a single byte uploads — file types and your plan’s limit — so an upload that would fail is caught while you can still do something about it. Raw photos need no zipping: your browser bundles them for you.
